Packaging accessories and gift finishing touches

A ribbon to close, a label to sign and filling to arrange the contents: choose accessories that make the packaging coherent without making preparation unnecessarily complicated.

Buying advice · Parsell

A considered finish beats adding more decoration

Each accessory should have a job: hold tissue in place, accompany a closure, separate items or give a series a consistent finish. Starting with the chosen box, bag or pouch avoids buying rolls and filling that do not fit the final packing routine.

Arrange the inside before decorating

Place the product, cards and accessories in the packaging, then decide what needs support or separation. Fluffy shredded paper can fill a box and arrange its presentation; tissue can wrap the contents. Neither establishes impact resistance on its own. For glass or heavy items, choose cushioning for the product and journey, then check the complete loaded package.

Keep the closure in proportion

A wide ribbon on a small box creates a different balance from a fine tie on a large one. Make a trial with the actual bow or finish and measure the length used per package. For a sticker, check its size and the surface to which it will be applied. A decorative closure is not the same as a security seal or a shipping closure.

Calculate from a finished example

Prepare a complete package and record ribbon length, sheets, stickers and filling used. Multiply this by the series before converting into rolls, dispenser boxes or other packs. The record also helps the team repeat the same placement, length and finish. Keep accessory references and colours for replenishment rather than selecting again from photographs.

Questions before you order

How can I estimate the number of ribbon rolls?

Measure the ribbon actually used on a finished package, including the bow, then multiply by the number of packages. Compare with the selected roll length and allow for trials and cuts.

Is paper filling enough to protect a fragile product?

Not automatically. Decorative filling does not replace cushioning suited to the product’s weight, fragility and journey. For shipping, check the outer packaging and separation between items too.

Should every accessory be the same colour?

Not necessarily. Choose a combination that works with the product and its packaging, then confirm it on a complete example. The same colour name does not guarantee an identical appearance on paper, ribbon and fabric.
