Choose the pouch by its job, not just its appearance

A paper gift pouch, a cotton drawstring bag and a garment cover can all complete a purchase, but they serve different purposes. Material, opening and volume once filled determine the useful fit. Decide first whether you need presentation, protection or a specific shipping reference.

Distinguish paper, cotton and garment covers

A paper pouch gives a flat profile and a tidy closure for a relatively thin item. A cotton drawstring bag suits jewellery and small objects; leave room below the cord so it can close without distorting the presentation. For a garment on a hanger, compare the cover’s length, width and fastening against the actual hanging item.

Measure thickness and closing space

Flat dimensions do not describe all the usable volume. A small box placed inside a pouch consumes width through its thickness. An adhesive flap, drawstring or zip also needs space to close correctly. Measure the product with its card, support and protection, then check that the full arrangement goes in and comes out without forcing it.

Coordinate the logo with the sales channel

Branding should remain visible when the pouch is filled and closed. Use the options on the actual product page rather than transferring assumptions from another material. A gift pouch is not automatically a mailing envelope, and a protective pouch is not automatically suitable for food contact. For those uses, choose a reference that specifies the purpose and check the conditions for your product.

Questions before you order

How do I size a drawstring bag?

Measure the item with its support and leave space above it for the cord to tighten. The full height of a drawstring bag is not all available for a rigid object.

Can a pouch replace a box?

For some small items handed over in person, a pouch can provide the presentation. Fragile pieces, glass or sets that must stay positioned may need a different structure and internal support. Choose for both the product and its journey.

Can I add my logo to a pouch?

Where personalisation is offered, choose the method and area available for that material. Artwork intended for paper may look different on cotton or non-woven fabric; check it at the final size.
